No we do not have this poster available. No I cannot source another. No we do not print copies, reprints, re-editions or any other form of fake. BUT YES! I agree! It is a very beautiful poster hanging on the wall.

A final 4 words on bus posters. FRAMING. FULLY. FURTHERS. FANTASTIC-NESS. This is all. Happy FRIDAY.

Golly. There are some seriously beautiful posters popping up in Melbourne homes these days. The first two are from the home of Jane Hall, and the third from the home of Jane and Matt Martino. You can see more of their lovely abodes on the always inspirational The Design Files blog. It makes me so happy to see people taking risks with their poster choices, buying something completely different, quirky and totally original. This is the way to buy people. Just get what you love, and what works for YOU and YOUR HOME. Happy days.

New posters in Smith Street Bazaar this week. Just don’t ask about the accident involving a ladder and the red lamp on the left. Oops. We have gone for a monotone style. What do you think?

A favourite poster, white frame, grey wall, shelf below covered with bits and bobs collected along the way. Not contrived, not planned, just cosy, comfortable and fun. From the home of Le Boss and Shelley T. (you can see more here on The Design Files)

Clever idea time. You don’t necessarily have to frame, or even hang, a poster. How about placing it into a an old newspaper stand? I do love the layering of items in this shot from House & Garden too. Très beau!

Almost the same poster, two completely different people/rooms/looks/decor/results. Oh la la Chanel No. 5…. you make so many women so happy.

People always worry about how a vintage poster is going to fit into their space. Yes, some are big…. but posters don’t need a huge blank space to live in. In fact, often the poster will look best placed amongst all your other bits and bobs. Take the Rita poster, living in the kitchen of Jo Carmichael’s Sydney home. Jo is a wonderful interior stylist and decorator, and her home is truly enviable. You can see the rest of it in Lucy’s tour on The Design Files. Do you see how right the Rita looks here? Not a lot of space is needed, and if you love the poster you make it work. Simple as that!

If I told you that two men work in this office, and that one has a big round shiny bald head would you believe me? Because it’s true. I swear.

How about a little spice for your Friday? This sizzling lady was designed by Savignac to promote the 1962 film ‘Tous les Plaisirs du Monde’ (All the Pleasures of the World). Initially released as Il Mondo di Notte in Italy, it was a documentary tour of the nightclubs of countries all over the world. I think we can take the term nightclub here pretty lightly. BUT! No matter the entertainment content of the film, this is surely one fun poster. What a way to brighten, and enliven, a little corner of your life. Just like the one here. Oh là là!

At Galmont, we love love LOVE to see what you do with your posters when you get them home. How you live with them. Which is why I want to say a huge thanks to Michelle for sending through these pics. The red ‘Grands Caves’ on the gray wall fits perfectly above her super cosy looking fireplace, while the little ‘Bonal’ is clearly enjoying his spot amongst the toys and tee-pee. Now to fill that spot above the bed….

I do love how right this poster looks in this spot. Advertising a French furniture store, the colours and shapes of the poster mimic those in the room and beyond. A slightly altered mirror image. Which brings me to this poster, the Ameublement. Horizontal, bright and not too ‘advertise-y’ (new word, meaning not too commercial or ad like), it would look so right in many homes. On your wall maybe?

Ever been to Smith Street Bazaar? It’s a beautiful store in Fitzroy (on Smith Street funnily enough) choc full of mid-century furniture, beautiful home wears, custom made bikes and many other things I could easily spend all my dollars on. Also in this store are our posters. Ta-dah! A great big splash of colour on the wall. Très beau!

I think we need to pay more attention to the graphic posters in the Galmont collection. Sharp, clean and simple, they need little more than a skinny frame and a blank wall to really make a statement (as shown in these two pics, pulled from Design Sponge). Find these three at the gallery - here, here (yep, it’s a Miro) and here.

Some posters need a little imagination, it’s hard to visualise exactly how a certain poster will look on your wall. Take this series by the modern French poster artist Michel Quarez. Bright, busy, and slightly  ‘in your face’, some might think they’re a bit loud. But look! On the wall, in amongst your furniture, these posters look brilliant. And if these pics don’t convince you, go can see them for yourself ‘in situ’ at Le Contraste. Oh and while your there, can you pick me up that sofa in the first photo please? Merci!
